She was told that Ticehurst Cottage, where she has been housekeeper for more than twelve years, is now hera.

A GERMAN scientist, Hermann Soergel, has a plan to save Europe from war-by building a dam at Gibraltar and from Sicily to Tunis and turn- ing the greater part of the Western Mediterranean into 500,000 square miles of new fertile land, with a lake in the middle.

His scheme would also provide electric power for all Europe and Irrigate 300,000 square miles of African sands,

A by-product of this engineering feat would be the recovery of quan titles of ancient treasure, which would probably uppear as the waters receded, reventing sunken galleys of ancient Rome and Egypt, he snyn.

The plan is to keep out the At lanile and Indian Decans, Once that is done, the Mediterranean would lower liscif at the rate of 105 metres a year and power sta- flons many times bigger than those at Niagara would be built at Gib- raltar,

Something like a League of Nations would be set up to control the power generated there, which would be ssed along through all the power stations in Europe.

Ex-Boxer Made Wife Say Prayers In Porch

"AS a preliminary to finishing her off Gizzi made his wife kneel down and pray in a church porch."

This was stated by a police officer nt Rhyl, North Wales, recently, of a former professional boxer, Jolin Gizzi.

Gizzi was sent lo prison for three months for having inflicted grievous bodily harm on his stepmother, Mes. May Gizzi, of Welington-road, and for

having caused a breach of the pence.

Superintendent A. E. Lindsay. Deputy Chief Constable, said Gizzl's wife obtained a separation order at Abergele jast January after Gizzi had ussaulted her and threatened to mur- der her. The Superintendent then made the statement quoted above.

"My Big Mistake"

Superintendent Lindsay said that on March 29 Gizzl; after, having previously threatened to murder his wife, forced his way into his step- mother's house. Ils grabbed hold of . his stepmother, knocked her down and kicked about the kitchen

floor and out of the house until she became unconscious.

After saying he wanted his wife to return to him, Gizzl stated: "My big nistake was that I thought my wife had been unfaithful and had been -carrying on -with-a-soldier-After I had given her a good hiding I found

"You must leave women alone. You have been a bully and unfair to women," the chairman, Mr. E. G. Evans, told Gizzi. "You may have been a boxer, but you must not try your hand with women. this, country must be protected from men like you.”
