The refugee children cluttered the ronds and impeded military opera tions, but by the time that happened the war had been lost, for the initial disaster had already occurred at Sedan: The statement that Britain despatched only ten divisions is surely wrong, secing that we had four hundred thousand men as promised, and a far greater air force than was asked for. In addition, of course, we have kept the seas open.
