RECREIO PRESSED BY KOWLOON B.G.C. Thrilling Game Decided On Last League Tennis

Three Heads: To-day's Prospects UNIVERSITY NO MATCH

(By "Wick")

MY FORECAST last week that Kowloon B.G.C., playing on their own green, would lower the colours of Club de Recreio "A", champions for the last three years, went awry-though only by three shots. As a mat tor of fact, the result might have been as predicted but for a last-minuto recovery by the Portuguese.

After two rinks had finished, the champions found themselves two shots in arrears. The game between

"Spuggy" Silva and George Sherriff had three more heads Eastern Win

to run, but in these three ends Silva not only made up the deficit of his side-but-gavo them victory by three shots.

In this encounter, which was date for their match against Kow- very close right through, the loon B.G.C. at Happy Valley. On champlons were ng near to de- paper, the Civil Servants have a very fine team, but whether they foat as they are ever likely to will do as well on the green is an- be this year.. To boht Kowloon other matter. They will have to B.G.C. at Austin Road this year play extremely well if they want to when the latter are playing so beat K.B.G.C. well is no mean foat and le suf- ficient testimony to the skill of "the champions.

ECREIO "B" came a cropper last 1 Saturday in their first away To-day they There is little doubt at the match of the season. Portuguese are as formidable as they are back on their own green, where

To my mind, the only match in the rest of their programme that they any donger of losing is that against Craigengower C.C. at Happy Valley, And they have beaten the Vallevites consistently in the last two or three

the

I am not forgetting that in this particular match last summer, indians were within one shot of doing what no team has succeeded to do in the Inst two seasons. Actual- ly the result of the game was de- elded by the last wood of the day. This afternoon, however, the Indians, with A weakened toam, will need a miracle to get so close to the cham-

Continually switching players from one rink to another does not improve any team, and the Indians are find- ing this out. They have not yet settled down to their regular side by any means,
