TOMMY FARR is being operated on by a famous special- ist.
He wants to make sure of be- ing "fighting fit" for the medical test when he volunteers for the Navy in the next few weeks.
"For weeks I have been a sick man. The trouble has been a nasal infection and the operation involves the removal of bones from the nose."
Tommy was invalided out of the R.A.F., which he joined two days of poor after war began, becauso eyesight, and sickness. Sie Kingsley Wood, the Air Minister, was recently asked about it.
"I have been unfairly criticised since I left the RAF.," said Tommy, "The facts have been misconstrued. I was the first sportsman to volun- teer, and 1 joined the R.A.F. in the lowest rank.
"Many people thought that I had a soft job as an instructor. This is untrue. Throughout the three and a half months I was in the BAF. I was training to be an air-gunner or pilot-observer,
