SPECIAL TO THE "TELEGRAPH"

ISTANBUL, Mar. 31 (UP).-The contem- plated Allied measures are absorbing Turkish attention.

While the Soviet Foreign Minister's speech and Italy's denial of the existence of an Italo-German-Soviet accord have not passed unnoticed, official circles here are interested in the Allies moves to bring victory.

The resolution of the Supreme War Council recalling British and French-it is reported from Ankara that the French Minister is returning to Paris-diplomats from the Near East and the Balkans, is scen here as the com- mencement of a vast diplomatic action to overcome German influence in the Balkans.

FRIENDSHIP WITH ALLIES

No cause for anxiety is seen in the Allies action because, as one authority puts it, "the Allies are the only great Powers who nourish no aims in the Balkans."

The forthcoming action of the Allies is, therefore, watched with sympathetic eyes.

Does the Hon. Mr. Mitchell-Innes think ho is likely to glorify himself in this colony by acting like a wayward child on every occasion he appears in public? Being modest and not wishing to mix up with the brilliant uniforms and other unique caricatures on modern costume represented by the three dozen Hongkong mato and female fashionablen who were thought of sufficiently high tale to be allowed on Pedder's Wharf on such an occasion, these three gentlemen were contented to remain in the background and view all that was to be seen from the inside of the archway nearest tha Queen's Food.

Mr. Michell-Innes suddenly appeared on the scene, and taking upon himself the function of Capt. Superintendent of Police, ordered a sergeant of that useful force to "turn the three persons" of the whart.

The sergeant did his duty to the best of his gita; ho politely conveyed the instructions he had received from Mr, Alltchell-Innes, and looked somewhat aurprised when he was most courteously requested to tell that most honourable personage to come along and try on the turning out business he had so fusily ordered.
