Bateman said he was driving to wards the city with a friend. Coming out of Chino Road, his speed was 10 or 15 miles per hour. On rounding the left hand bend at the function of Upper Albert and Calne Roads, he nouced the van approaching from the opposite direction and swung left [to allow it to pass. As they were
