Police shared the same fate as several other teams against South China "A" this season. They went all out in the first half, and fairly swept South China off their feet, but in the second, although they tried very hard, their attacks lacked the vim to push them home.

MacHardy gave an excellenti display at goal for Police. The shots that passed him were un-: stoppable, the rest, except for slight hesitations and fumblings, he dealt with in proper style.

For Junior Cricket Honours

ALL

IN VISITING the Cox's Road ground, and beating the K.C.C. second eleven in a league cricket match on Saturday, Police not only accomplished this achieve- ment for the first time for several years, but also con- solidated their challenge for the Second Division cham- pionship.

They, with Recreio and I.R.C., are now the leading contenders. for the honours, and a playoff between two of these three teams seems more than likely.

Pope won the match for the Police Jon Saturday as a result of a splendid innings of 49. Without his contri- bullon, which was the outcome of some free and well-timed balling, Police almost certainly would have

lost.

As it was, following Pope's dis- missal with the scure at 120, the Police lost three more wickets with- out adding a single run, and finally scrambled home by two wickets.

Luke had one remarkable spell of bowling when

three he took wickets in four balls' without con- ceeding a run.

K.C.C. were well below normal

strength, and they had to struggle for runs against the accurate Police

attack, the mainstays of which were
