"Good old JOHNNIE WALKER -there's a whisky for you"

"It's good to get back to Johnnie Walker 1"

That is particularly true after a hard day's work. There's something delightfully ́clean and refresh- ing about the flavour of Johanie Walker. And no wonder. For Johnnie Walker is the finest blend of "the finest Scotch whiskies, perfectly mellowed and

matured. It's old and it's good.

WON A MEDAL

IN LAST WAR

MRS. GRACE BROWN, of Sevenoaks, Kent, forty-two-year-old mother of a ten- year-old boy, flew a plane from England -and made a perfect landing on the rough ground of an R.A.F. flying field in France. She was flying a consignment of blood to the R.A.F. to be used for transfusion.

R.A.F. men stared in surprise' when they saw that the pilot was a woman.

"Do you see what I see?" said one aircraft- man, as the pilot stepped out, wearing dark blue serge tunic, neatly creased trousers, black silk socks and black shoes.

As she brushed a black curl from under her forage cap, the sleeve of her tunic revealed the three gold bands of a enptain.

Her first concern was to see that the blood, in ita special containers, was safely on its way to a casualty clearing station. Then she drove into town and bought face powder,

Mrs. Brown is the first woman to pilot a plane to France on active service. Under the blood transfusion scheme she has flown bloo on several occasions to a French Chan- nel port, but this is the first line she has brought it so far forward to the British lines.

Her brother pilots call Mrs. Brown Captain Gracle. She is a printer's wife, and was a member of the Voluntary Aid Detachment in the East African cumpaign during the Inst war.

"I got a medal for H," she said, but I don't wear the ribbon. I feel it would make me look s though I were a hundred. I am only forty-two."

"Captain Gracie" is the wife of Mr. Anthony Brown, of Woodlands- rise, Seal, Sevenoaks.
