HOLLYWOOD, March 5 (UP). -Ginger Rogers the film' star has filed a petition for divorce from her husband, Lew Ayres, charging desertion.

Mr. Ayres is not contesting the suit which has been filed in the Superior Court. The couple have been separated for five years.

They were mar- ried in 1934. Two ycara later they Bnnounced that they were separat- ing amicably with- out any Idea of securing a divorce.

FINNS BATTLE ON ICE FLOES

HELSINGFORS, Mar. 5 (UP), In the most daring attacks of the Finnish War, the Russians to-day sent two columns over the ice in the Bay of Finland.

The columns were composed of light tanks manned by two men each and they hurled an attack against the islands of Haapas- sari and Virolahti.

Both columns were cut tu pieces by Flunish coastal batteries.

To-day's oflciat. Finnish communi- que states that the Finns continue to repulse Russion attacks on the islands near Viborg and also on the capes at the mouth of the Bay and on the northwest shore.

It clumed that 500 Russians were killed to-day in Bghting at Kuhmo, Local attacks at Acyraepajaervi and Pollakala between Viborg Bay and Vuoksi were repulsed.

The air raid alorro was sounded for 15 minutes in Helsingfors this morn- ing but anti-aircraft batteries pré- vented the raiders from reaching the city.
