LONDON, Feb, 20 (Reuter).—The death is announced of ML. Arnold

Dolmetsch, the famous musiclan and maker of old-time_Instruments. He was ille founder of the Haslemere Festival.

Born in Le Mans, France, in 1858, he was educated at the Brussels Con- servatoire under Vieuxtemps and the Roynt College of Musle. During his life-time he had given innumerable concerts of old musle on the Instru- ments for which it was written (restored and made by himself) in England, "Amerien, France, Italy and other countries. He had also lectur- ed at various universities, Including Harvard and La Sorbonne, Paris.

Founder Of Festival Every year he held a festival of old music of all nationalities at Haslemere during the last two weeks of July.

He owned a workshop for making harpsichords, clavichords, Jutes and recorders at Haslemere.

He was the author of several publications, the most well-known of which is "The Interpretation of the Muste of the 17th and 18th Centur-
