Karolian Battle Rages HELSINGFORS, Feb. 27 (Reuter). -A cominunique states that west of the Kurellan lathmus the enemy con- tinued his attacks but suffered henvy lossrs.

North-east of Luke Ladoga, there was strong artillery activity in which the. Finns destroyed three tanks and two armoured cara.
In the direction of Petsamo, the enciny made several attacks.

OPECIAL TO THE "TELEGRAPH HELSINGFORS, Feb. 27 (UP)-- To-day's official Finnish communique states that the Russians suffered heavy losses yesterday in their attacks on the Isthmus, particularly on the islands in the Bay of Viborg.
Russian attacks were repulsed on the Somme, Nayttyjaervi and Sal- menkalta sectors where the Finns cop- tured a large quantity of arms and ammunition and destroyed 18 tanks. Fighting in these sectors still con- tinues.
Powerful Attacks Repelled The Finns also repelled powerful Russian attacks at Taipale where heavy booty was captured. Fighting has been resumed at Kuhmo whlie at Petsamo the Finns have withdrawn to their defence positions at Nautsi.
There has been considerable aerial activity. The Finnish air force has cen bombing Russian air bases and munitions dumps far behind the Russian Ines,

New Danger To Finns STOCKHOLM, Feb. 27 (Reuter)- There is danger that the Finns may soon have another front to defond Bs a result the Karelion Isthmus battle.
When they reach the tip of Koivisto Peninsula, the Russians will be only five miles from the main Finnish south coast near Sackkijaerv!, which has been evacuated by the civilian population.
The loss of the Koivisto fortress has opened up the way for such an advance.
Previously the Finulsh batteries there had effectively checked any qulflanking movement of this kind behind the Mannerheim Line.

I was recently suggested in Lon- don that Hongkong would become a British Contraband Control base if Britain decided to establish regular control in the Pacific.
Informed quarters have suggested that Britain will establish auch Con- trol in the Pacific the minute she feels it is Jualifiable and Hongkong la re- garded as the most likely location.
Britain is thought to have been carefully watching the movements of Germany VİR cargoes en route to
the trans-Siberian Vladivostok and railway.
