IMPRESSIONS OF

THE SOCCER XI IN SHANGHAI

(By S. A. Gray)

HONGKONG'S SOCCER TEAM may have lost the Interport match, but they won Shanghai's admiration, and no company of mon could have been more generously lionised. Shanghai's hos- pitality was overwhelming, and it was a very grateful and impressed team which bade farewell after ten mamorable days in the northern metro- polis.

·

THE defeated Hongkong boys

roared "Roll Out The Bar- rel" as they left the Canidrome after the match, but Shanghai didn't need the reminder. Ask the boys themselves!

THE fastidiously detailed work put

in by Mr. President Fred Bridges.) Secretary Max Spiegler und Team- Manager Stan Gash dabbergasted even the veteran' members of the visiting side. About the only time they weren't planning things for the comfort and entertainment of the. Hongkong lads wus while they were on the field of play; even Bien, suspect, they were figuring out whal next they could do to make the visit remain more than a vague memory, You have my word for it that they succeeded.

Jockey Club Gesture

To Charity

Though it has been adver- tised, and is even printed on the tickets, there are yet some people still surprised at the information that the Hongkong Jockey Club's Commission on the Hongkong Derby is to be given to Charity Funds.

With Gittins on the green In four, and Suen Just short in two, the Intler falled with his approach, and with his next chip jumped right over the green. The hole was halved, and Gittins went on to win the 19th by one putt.
