Egg-Powder Dishes

EGG-powder can be used in cakes

and puddings as a substitute for fresh eggs. To make Yorkshire pud- ding with egg-powder, add half a ten- spoonful to 1 of flour and 1 plach of salt. Make a well in the centre and pour in little out of half a pint of milk. Bent well for five to ten- minutes, stir in the rest of the milk and let the mixture stand for an hour before baking.

Good steamed puddings can bo made with egg-powder. Here is a standard recipe offering plenty of scope for variations. Add half a teaspoonful of egg-powder to 4 ozs of four.

Japan Policy Outlined By Spokesman

Tokyo, Feb. 10. A Foreign Office spokesman stated at a Press conference to-day that the negotiations for a trado pact between Japan and Russia wore going on smoothly.

Asked whether the pact was likely to follow the lines of the Soviet-Ger- man

trade agreement, he declared that trade conditions differed but in some phases it might be similar.

Genuine Dalai Lama

London, Feb. 19. Fresh evidence of the genuineness

of the reincarnation of the Dalai Lama was disclosed, it is reported, when the British mission to Lhasa was pre- sented to him on the auspicious th day of the Tibetan New Year, accord- Ing to the Delhi correspondent of The Times.

The correspondent states that the boy Dalai Lama laid both hands on the foreheads of Mr. B. J. Gould (who represents the British Government and the Government of India) and Dr. Staunton and blessed two silk scarves which an ecclesiastical officer placed around their necks.
