PONY PERFORMANCES DURING
TRIUMPHANT DAY & ROSE ELECT HEAD STAKES WINNERS
IN 1939 there were 50 events confined to the Australian ponies, but one would hardly believe that no track figure has been lowered during the whole racing season.
Strathroy owned by Mr. J. F. Macgregor is the pre- sent record holder of the fastest time over five furlongs, a mile, a course from the two mile post (once round and in), 1% miles and 14 miles. It is interesting to recall that Strathroy attempted to stage a comeback (after an ab. sence of five months) in the Brisbane Spring Handicap run on May 6, but the record holder failed miserably in a field of four runners. After this outing Strathroy has not been seen in public and it is rumoured that the wonder pony is on pension,
