Roosevelt Appoints Two Experts

WASHINGTON, Dec. 21 (UP).-President Roosevelt has ordered two United States Public Health experts to direct and aid in the fight against typhus in Finland.
He has directed Senior Sur- .geon II. A. Spencer who is in Paris, and Senior Surgeon Vance B. Murray, who is in Berlin to proceed to Finland and to co- operate with the American Red Cross.
Years Of Experienco
Both men are experts in the pre- vention treatment of typhus, Dr. Spencer has had 20 years of experi- ence both here and in Europe, while Dr. Murray has had long experience in the Philippines and Japan. He also directed the Quarantine Stations at Shanghai, Alaska and at South American ports.

LONDON, Dec. 21 (Reuter). -The story of how co-operation between British planes and a destroyer saved six survivors of

An R.A.F. plane on coastal patrol sighted a small craft with six Swedes on it. It immediately signalled the newn to its base and another plane was sent out to keep in contact with the raft.
