· MR. LINDSAY LAFFORD

Former Hongkong Organist Now at Princeton

Mr. Lindsay A. Lafford, former organist of St. John's Cathedral, hus taken up his new post as Choir Director and Organist at Princeton University, U.S.A. He made quite an impression on his first Sunday in Chapel.

Commenting on the event the Princeton Alumni Weekly says. "Lindsay Lafford, formerly of Here- ford Cathedral, England, who has been appointed to take the place of Professor Robert Huisiader as choir director and organist, started out his first Sunday in chapel with a bang. Accustomed to the gentle and melli- fluous improvisations of his former organist, the choir was startled end when Mr. Lafford sounded forth some extra loud notes In the old English cathedral manner. For n few seconds there was no singing and even the drowsy underclassmen in the first few pews were aroused for a short lime."

on

Mr. Lafford arrived in Hongkong in April, 1935 and left early in Marchi, this year. He was very popular in Hongkong_musical..circles..
