BIRTHDAY HONOURS
In the bailruum of Government House on Saturday Prof. K. H. Digby, of the University, and Capt. J. S. Rodrigues, of Ulic Volunteers, were presented with the insignia of the orders awarded them in the birth- clay bopoura.
Sir Geoffry Northcote, made the presentations,
Governor,
With him on the dais were the General Officer Commanding, Major-Gen. A. E. Gros- set and the Chief Justice, Sir Atholl MacGregor,
Prot. Digby was attended by Lt. Col. G. D. I. Black and Major C. M. Manners. In presenting him with the insignia of an Omeer of the Civil Division of the Order of the British Empire, the Governor said:
#
"This mark of the King's opprecia- tion of your services has been warmly welcomed in the University, where you have worked for more than quarter of a century: nor is that surprising, for it is well-known that the high reputation which the Medical School bears has been built largely upon the care you have devoted con- sistently to clinical teaching there and to your patient determination to hulp each individual student along the path of learning. Morcover, your oral teaching has been valuably sup- plemented by several technical-pubfi- cations which your pen has contributed to the Lanect and other journals, Lastly, to your eminent skill in sur- gery a very large number of people owe a deep debt of gratitude. Thus a good half of your life has been spent in saving human beings from pain, disease or death, either by your own hands or by training the hands of others. Such services well deserve Royal recognition."
Sterling Character
Capt. Rodrigues was attended by Lt. Col, H. B. L. Dowbiggin and Lt. Col. E. J. R. Mitchell. In presenting the insignia of a Member of the Military Division of the Order of the British Empire, the Governor said:
