Garrison Withdrawals Create Delicate Problem

Counter-Attack

On Siangning Progresses

The Chinese counter-attack on Siangning in West Shansi is making steady progress, according to a "Central News" message this morning.

After recapturing a number of strategic points, the Chinese have now reached the immediale outskirts.

On Monday morning, the beleaguered Japanese made another desperate attempt to break through the Chinese cordon, but were hurled back, sustaining some 300 exsualties.
