Dr. Svon Hedin, the Swedish explorer and a forvent admirer of Hitler, want to Berlin recently to warn the Fuchrer against co-oporation with Russia. They talked freely and as an indication of Hitler's prezant state of mind the interview with Dr. Hedin, given below, is of some im- portance.

(By A SPECIAL CORRESPONDENT)-

STOCKHOLM.

"HITLER was quiet and calm when I spoke to him

on Monday," Dr. Hedin told me.

"His manner was most confident. I have known him for six years. Usually he moves his limbs and body freely while conversing. "He hates war. He does not hate England and desires peace passionately."

I asked what had been discussed at the meeting.

"I cannot reveal the details," Dr. Iledin replied, "but my feelings are that war will be terrible, resulting in the triumph of Bolshevism and an end of Western civilisation.

"Only one thing tun save US-T Anglo-French co-operation, which is Hller's dream. Such a move, in my opinion, would baulk Bolshevism's

crente westwardy advance and tremendous and terrible power which would Impase and dietate pence upon the work.

Drive To The East

I asked if Itler would join n powerful Western bioe utrong enough to maintain peace and reorganise the wortti,

"Germany," Dr. Hedin answered, "would undoubtedly do so."

"Dues Germany retain her ambi- bona in the East," I asked.

"These are not so substantial now," was the reply. "The Russian fron- tier is agreed on finally."

These things, Dr. Hedin added, he hnd discussed with Hitler.

"Would Hitler withdraw from Poland and Czecho-Slovakia?" The reply was: "There will be a semi- independent Polish State, which Ger- many will protect; but she will not

Czecho-Slovakia." give up,

Earlier in the week, a drifting mine hlt a sea wall and brought down the ceilings in Rommyn's home and uther houses and broke many win dows, making houses uninhabitable. A woman whose house had been "We saw the mine damaged said: being washed up near the seawall. Many of us left our homes and were all nervous after the shock of the other one."
