Mothers always want ideas for trimming baby's first cot, for suggestions for the de- coration and furnishing of the children's rooms, for advice about furniture which will stand up to the constant wear and tear of a growing family.
This week I will attempt to help you if you are preparing for a baby and
to have everytlung ready for his arrival, or if you already have a baby of toddler age to plan for.

JHOUGHTS IN A QUIET
'AWAKENED in the morning feeling that the world was n
wrong. Freak storms, thunder, and every kind of queer weather which our country sometimes in- dulges in, had made my head thundery too,
I thought of all the mean things that had been done to me right back to childhood days; I remembered all the Limes when I find been left with more than my share of worry and respon- ality; all the stupid things I had done, and all the times when I had shirked duly and been selfish and shal- low and not played up,
I got hotter and lotter, more and more soaked in self pity, more and mare disgusted with myself and the world. Then I tumbled out of bed. and before I did anything else, I went out into the garden.
It is such a little one, but there were a few ripe berries to be picked, a few sticks to be put in to support the snap- dragons. The earth steamed after the heavy thunder rain, in the morning But, every leaf was glistening. the roses were still sweet,
Standing there 1 feit all the brooding thoughts slipping away, as the main drops were disappearing in the sun,
tuto my mind came the picture of the first man walking with God in the days when, the world was a tarden. and wondered how many millions of people since then had met Ilm in a garden, and regained their sense of

Some steal into a quiet country church, others go to their own room and "shut the door," others must climb to the mountal top or meet the wind on the open moor, others Ar to the beds and borders with the weeds always waiting to be removed and the flowers bringing their message of beauty.
Often I find mine when I am wash- ing dishes at the open window of the kitchen which looks out on the old church. It stands against the sky, a church with a Saxon foundation,

The col could be trimmed with the plik ninon, and the only other furni- ture you should need at present is a low nursing chair and a small white- wood chest which could be left its 'natural colour and waxed or enamelled pale blue,
Folding Pram
Can you lielp me about a pram for our frit baby? We live in a top stat and are not allowed to leave prams downstairs:
I THINK you will like a folding pram which is called a "bed ear" be- cause it adapts to bed or sitting-up position and wilch will do for linby right up to the toddler stage.
It has rubbertyred wheels, foals operated brake, coll springs, and it folds up into small space.
There are two colour schemes--black and ivory and green and champagne. The first is practical, but I thought the coloured pram very smart-looking. A antely strap and a snug leather apron are included with the pram
Trimming the Cot
Baby arrives in September and I would like a pretty muslin-trimmed cot.
PEACE pink muslin over blue would
bo an attractive scheme. · A Bull- able cot for trimming is made in natural plaited straw on s strong wooden frame, mounted on castors s0 that it moves ensily.
The trimming is simply straight frikka of muslin, made with two-inch wide neadings and threaded on cloatie, so that they can be removed and washed.
A canopy is not really necessary, but if you would like one, have a rod with s hook at the top fixed to the back of the col and dripe a muslin curtain over the book,
