CHUNGKING, Oct. 17 (Reu- ter)-Reports of success by Chinese forces in south-east Shanel are given prominence in the press here to-day.

According to Chinese reports, Japanese forces in south-east Shanal, with bases at Tungyang- kwan, Hokwan, Changchi and Changtse, launched a drive on October 8 southward along the highway between Changchi and Kaoping towards Kangping.
