HONGKONG SINGERS Successful Year Reported

› At Annual Meeting

The Annual General Mooling of the Hongkong Singers' was held in the Union Church Hall. Kennedy) Road, yesterday. Dr. L. T. Ride was, In the Chair. About 20 members were present.

In the course of his report, Dr. Ride announced that His Excellency. the Governor had consented to be come Patron of the Society,

Two concerts were given during the year.

Turning to the financial side, Dr. de said there was credit belance In hand of $31.93. This small bal ance was mainly due to the numer ous donations made by the Soclely to various charitable institutions. He reminded members that very few societies in the Colony contributed as much as they had done,

The Society's charitable contribu tions during the year totalled $5.20, he sald The proceeds of "The Mes- sluh," $200, was sent to the fund for the Refugees' Camp School, and that of the Armistice Day

was given to St. Dunstan $132, The Treasurer, Mr. J. J. Higgins, referring to the accounts, said that the Society were expecting $40 for broadensts over 2.B.W. during the yeur, so

their credit balance would not be so bad.

The Chairman expressed thanks to St. John's Cathedral for permission to use the church for their recitals; to the Union Church for the use of the Hall for the meeting and rehearsals; and to the Press for publicity given to their activities.

The election of officers resulted as follows:

Flying above the Imperial Air- ways* 24-ton Transatlantic boat Cabot over Southampton Water recently a fuelling planc poured 200 gallons of petrol into the Cabot's tanks in five minutes. The demonstration was a dress-rehearsal for the British Inauguration of the Transatlantic air mail service.
