The Royal Yacht Squadron opened their four- day rogatta to-day, when the chief events were the King's Cup and Queen Mary's Cup.

The former is a race given for the premier class in British waters for the time being, and the prize is open only to British yachts belonging to recog- nised yacht clubs. The American cutter, Vjm, în the conditions, was not eligible to compete.
