West Indies Team Leaves Abruptly

The present tension in Eu- rope has caused the West Indies cricketers, who have been touring England during the last few months, to leave the country abruptly.

The manager of the team, according to a Reuter message, announced yesterday that the tourists would end their visit immediately.

They left Greenock for Montreal last night.

NO SWIMMING INTERPORT

As might have been expected. the Swimming Interport between Hongkong and Shanghai has been postponed in view of the present International situation.

The passages of the Hongkong team on the Wingsang, which is due to sall to-morrow, have been cancelled.

The decision to postpone the Interport was made at a meeting of the swimming committee of the Victoria Recreation Club last evening. A cable has been sent to the Shanghai Swimming As- sociation notifying them of this decision.

This is the second, ilme since 1937 that a Hongkong swimming team has cancelled its passage to Shanghai at the last moment. In that year, the Interport had to be called off owing to the trouble up in the north,
