Cool Fragrance

NEARLY every woman likes to

wear a touch of perfume, perhaps especially during the summer months when everything is sunny and 'wide fragrant. There

such ranges from which to choose, that it is difficult to decide which perfume is going to suit each individual per- Donality.

Flower, perfumes are always fresh and cool for summer days and even- ings, and they suit meat personalities. It is rather a mistake to use a heavy, exotic perfume during hot weather; cool fresh flower scents are more re- freshing. Some women like always to use the same perfume, but it is rather a change to vary the different scents occasionally.

It is essential to look cool during hot weather. As It automatically makes everyone less hot. An ex- ample of this was Diana Wynyard at the Richmond Dog Show, who judged the children's class. She was wear- ing an intriguing light silk outfit with lingerie touches. Her perfume was fresh and elusive. People de- clured that it made them feel cool Just to look at her!·

Naturally, hot all dower scents 4421 #uit everybody. Even such apparently simple perfunies must be chosen with discrimination, especially by the older woman. Young girls not must be careful that they do wear a perfume that is too heavy und sophistiented for their looks and manners.

Cooking Secrets

THEN stewing meat, add a dessert- spoonful of smalt sago, and the gravy will be deliciously thick.

If a little sugar and a little chopped mint is added when bolling cabbage, the flavour is much improved.

When

making

white soup, whether from veal or chicken stoeic, add a lump of sugar just before ser- ving. This simple addition Imparts a very piquant flavour.

Try brushing chops over with lemon juice before eboking. They

will be more tender if this is done. A

If the Juice of half a lemon is added to the contents of a tin of pineapple, the fruit will be

very much improved. To get the full value of the flavour, it should be allowed to stand in the dish for about half an hour before using.

Stewed apples will never be insipld if some chopped preserved ginger is added along with a little grated lemon or orange rind.

In the case of gooseberries which are past their first freshness, add h saltspconful of ground ginger to the sugar for every quart of berries. ́ ́

When making ginger cakes or steamed ginger puddings, use cold, coffee for mixing. This gives a rich dark appearance, and the favour is also match improved.

The shirtwaist drem in dotted Swiss-white for the fabot-shirt and navy for the rivinging skirt, bids for hot weather attention. A crochet edzo trims the blouse.
