"Telegraph" Special Correspondent CANTON, Aug. 8.-Japanese efforts to sweep the Wangmun channel in the Chungshan dis- trict free of mines is meeting with scant success.

Reports from Wangmun claim that no less than seven Japanese trawlers have met with disaster from the mines they have been endeavouring to sweep, in each ease the vessels striking the mines and sinking.
