Gentleman's Agreement
Not To Aid Japan WASHINGTON, Aug. 2 (Havas)-A demand that the Cordell State Secretary, Mr. Hull, should appeal to American war material exporters not to trade any more with Japan was voiced to-day by Democrat Lewis B. Schwellenback, of Washing- ton.
He recalled that a simBar appeal by Mr. Hull to American plane crowned manufacturers had been with success.
Action such as he demanded now would diminish American exports of war materials to Japan by 50 to 70 per cent.
"When, at the start of the Sino- Japanese conflct, I presented a pro- Ject forbidding exports of scrap iron, I received many protests from quar- ters interested in the export of these Senator Schwellenbach materiais,' continued.

Why he was kidnapped or where he was taken could not be ascertained, but it was suggested he may have been-shipped to one of the German concentration comps on a freighter.
Intensive search by the police and constabulary falled to locate Kerns.
When the Marcus troupe salled for Hongkong two weeks later, the police and customs officials carefully check- ed up on the passengers but found no trace of the missing man.
The pollee at first believed that the story of the missing man was a clever publicity stunt, but dropped the theory when the troupe sailed with- out him.
