A PASSIONATE plea for the suffering people of China-for the peasants and workers portrayed in her famous film, "The Good Earth"-was made by Miss Luise Rainer, the film star,

at a luncheon recently at the Overseas Club organised by the China Campaign Committee.

When she sat down beside Lord, Noel-Buxton, chairman of the luncheon, there was not a sound in the room for nearly half a minute, and many eyes were misly.
