By a vote of 250 to 132, the House also passed a vote of confidence in the Government, defeating the Labour Party's amendment seeking to prevent adjournment on Friday in accordance with the Prime Minister's motion. SHORTER ADJOURNMENT
LONDON, Aug, 2 (Reuter)In the House of Commons to-day, Mr. Chamberlain submitted a motion that the House adjourn from Friday to October 3, with the provision that the Speaker should recall the House at an earlier date if he is satisfied that public interest demanded it.
Mr. Chamberlain said that the period of adjournment was shorter than usual, the reason being that the normal business of the session had been interrupted by emergency legislation.
