SESSION

LONDON, July 27, WITH Parliament due to adjourn for the summer recess on August 4, sugges-]; tions were made to Mr. Chamberlain during ques- tion-time in the House of Commons to-dày that the House should not disperse at the present time.

Mr. Chamberlain said he would (announce next week the date for reassembly in the autumn. It was proposed to take the mation for the summer adjourn- ment on August 2, and the usual power would be taken for the Speaker, on representation made by the Government, to call the House together at an carlier date if such a coursé was necessary in public interest.

Mr. Arthur Greenwood asked Mr. Chamberlain if he would give: con-: sideration to the suggestion that there; should be regular meetings of thei House, and that Members should not) disperse for a considerable period.
