WARSHIP AGROUND Tarantula Towed In

By Destroyer

The British Runbont Tarantula ran

ground at Urnsta Ronda yesterday afternoon while on her way from Canton to Hongkong, according to brief statement by the local Naval authorities. A destroyer was sent to her

after being assistance, and auccessfully rofloated the gunbont reached the Colony about 8 p.m.

Owing to the extreme reficence n' who apart the Naval authorities,

from the bare statement given above would not divulge any details of the mishap. It is difficult to estimate the damage sustained by the warship,

It is believed that she must have hit a rock, however, for apparently the Tarantula was lowed to Hong- kong. It is also believed that one of the recently arrived motor torpedo bonta went to the assistance of the stranded ship and took off her passengers and brought them 10 Hongkong.

Aboard the Tarantula were about twelve passengers,

whom among were the Rev. N. V. Halward, Com- missioner of the Hongkong Boy Scouts' Association, and Mr. Tyrrell, of the British Consulate at Canton.

Observers stated last night that the Toruntula arrived at Green Island in tow and was taken over there by tug, the destroyer leaving her.

The gunboat mays a trip to ¡long- kong about once Wery fortnight and usually carries a number of passen- Kers,
