Clubs Get Big Share Of Gate Receipts In F. A. Cup Competition

The statement of accounts to be placed before the annual general meeting of the Football Association in London on June 5 shows that Wolverhampton Wanderers: and Portsmouth, the F.A. Cup Finalists each received £5,380: 19: 5d. as their share of the Final gate. They, with Grimsby Town and Huddersfield Town, the other semi-finalists, each had £1,982: 11: 7d. from the semi- final takings. The F.A. for their percentage of the re- ceipts, took £9,958: 19: 9d. from the Cup Semi-finals and £16,452: 10: 8d. from the Wembley Final. The England v. Rest of Europe match at Highbury brought a “gate" of £5,075. Bishop Auckland and Willington received £251: 17: 8d. each from the F.A. Amateur Cup.
