European Suffers Terrible Injuries

Suffering from multiple injuries which subsequently proved fatal, Mr. Joseph H. Campbell, an Amer

the European lean resident of Y.M.C.A.. was found lying in Peking Road near the intersection of Peking and Hankow Roads in Kowloon at 5.30 am. yesterday, apparently the victim of a hit and run" motorist

Though help was immediately call- ed, Mr. Campbell died on the way to hospital, and

post-inortem examination yesterday revealed that his injuries included ten frac

fractured fractured ribs, a punctured lung, a fract pelvis and a ruptured spleen.

The victim was found by an Indian constable patrolling Peking Road, who noticed the body huddled in the gutter. He investigated and on find- ing the man's condition immediately summoned help.

Police last night stated that though inquiries were being made they were; as yet unaware of what happened. Mr. Campbell's movements can be traced until 4.30 a.m., when he was known to be in the Trocadero Hotel. but his movements after that hour are unknown.

His wrist-watch, which was broken. and had stopped at 5.15 a.m., gives a clue to the hour of the fatal ac- cident.

The nature of the Injuries have led the police to suspect that Mr. Campbell was the victim of a car accident, though no report of such an accident has been made by any car driver,

The Police are anxious to get into touch with any person who saw any- thing of the mishap or who was with Mr. Campbell prior to the accident.. Twelve Years in East
