AN IRON BELL which was rung 15 centuries ago by Buddhist monks in the Valley of the Thousand Monas- teries in Swat, beyond the Khyber Pass, is on view for the first time at the India Museum, South Kensington.
It is one of 150 discoveries made last summer by Mr. Philip Wright, of the museum, who, with three other. Englishmen, all in their twenties, made the first official excavations in the Swat Valley.
