Cripps Fails In Appeal Expulsion From Labour Party
LONDON, May 20. SIR STAFFORD CRIPPS, dis- missed chief of the Parliamen- tary Labour Party, was greeted with cheers and booing when he rose to address the Labour Party Conference at Southport this afternoon, on his attitude to his expulsion from the Party for advocating a popular front.
Sir Stafford Cripps sturdily defend. cd the action of circulating memordanum to the affiliated organl- sations urging a policy which had not the approval of the majority of the executive.
A card vote taken after Dr. Hugh Dalton had replied for the executive, rejected the resolution moved to refer the report back to the excutive.
This means that the executive's ex- pulsion decision was endorsed.- Reuter.
