THEFT OF MONEY Intended to Buy Passage.

H. W. Fraser, of the Secretariat for Chinese Affairs, said that the girl had been beaten with a feather duster, but she refused to say whe did it. At first she said she was beaten by her former mistress who had gone to Canton, and later she stated she had quarrelied with some children. Finally, she alleged de- fendant had beaten her but she re-i fused to say so in her presence.

A certain number of Korean volun- teers who have finished preliminary training in the Korean Army camps, were dispatched to an undisclosed front in China to participate in the military operations for the first time since the enforcement of the Korean Volunteer System in April, 1038.

So for 800 Korcan youths have been enlisted. The first and second groups each numbered 200. After six months' basic training, they are as- algned to various corps of the Korean! Army to undergo regular extrelses with recruits from Japan proper.- Domel,
