This is, we hope, a larger sum than the Government is seeking to raise at once as additional revenue, The imposition of an Income Tax would no doubt be followed by remissions in other forms of taxation.

That would, of course, offer the opportunity of a further simplifica- tion of the taxatlon system and ren- der possibly the abolition of various minor irritating taxes, besides making quite unnecessary any of the "minor" increases referred to above.
