Policemen Guarding Horses And Course: Royalty To Attend
London, May 23.
More heavily guarded than usual, 29 blue- blooded race horses are waiting in the stables at Epsom Racecourse on the eve of the 159th running of the English Derby.
The horses are always guarded overnight, but this year due to fears of LR.A. attempts extra heavy cordons of plainclothes police- men and uniformed police are patrolling the track day and night and are baving a busy time challenging arrivals, since the vanguard of the crowds began to arrive long before dawn to-day to ensure having the best positions on the rails in the free section on Bunkers Hill inside the course.
