Prunes In

"Festive Dress"

HERE are some ways of transform- the homely prune into a delicious sweet. Prune Whip

USEFUL APPLE

PPLE parings, added to soup and afterwards strained out, give it a delicious flavour.

Fry thin slices of apples with bacon or sausages. They counteract the richness of the fat. Dip them in. seasoned flour first.

Sonak half, a pound dried prunes in cold water overnight. Cook in same liquid. Drain when tender, reserving the juice. Press the prune pulp

Line patty tins with this rich pastry: Cream half a pound butter and 2 oz. sugar. Mix in 1 egg yolk and beat in gradually 12 ozs. sifted flour, pinch of salt, and half a tea spoonful baking powder, Frick with.. fork and bake 15 minutes or unul done. Leave to Measure

Bring to the ball and boll for ten minutes, unt! the mixture tuckens and no flavour of raw cornflour re thains;

Add the jufce and grated rind of 1 lembn: Cook for a further five pinutes and turn into a rinsed mould to sot. This may he served with whipped cream if desired.
