Tungpeh Is
Re-Occupied
SHANGHAI, May 19,
CHINESE REPORTS here claim a major victory for the Chinese in reoccupying Tungpoh on the Honan-Hupch border, following 48 hours of sanguinary fighting on the outskirts of the town and in the streets, in which 4,000 Japanese were killed,
The reports claim this is the biggest victory since Taiorchwang. The Chinese troops are reported to be following up the victory by harassing the fleeing Japanese troops and reoccupying a number of nearby villages.
It is considered worthy of note that Japanese reports during the past 48 hours have been practically, silent regarding the Honan Sector-United Press.
