Mother Gives £600,000 To The

Girl She Left At Home

DORIS BURKE was only nine years old whon one day she heard bitter words between hor pretty mother and her wealthy father, John J. Burke, of Philadelphia, and saw hor mother walk out of the house.

Mrs. Burke never returned. So Doris looked after her father till, on reaching young womanhood, she fell in love with handsome Robert C. Moore.

Her father frowned on the romance. ."You'll many the man I've chosen for you," he said..

So Doris, too, left home and became a hospital nurse in New York, holding several important positions before she eventually married the man of her choice.

Then they settled down to a happy life at Tucson, Arizona.

Fifteen months ago Doris Moore was touring through Texas when, in the lobby of an hotel where she sat waiting for a friend, a Frenchwoman came up and asked her the best way to California.

Doris was telling her when a handsome grey- haired woman walked in.

"Ah! Here is my companion," said the French- woman. "Perhaps you'll explain to her."

Doris turned to the new arrival and recog- nised her mother.

HAPPY OVER DISCOVERY

"I searched America for you for nearly fifteen years," said her mother. "I remarried, and have been living in England with my husband and three daughters.

"I am very wealthy, and now I have found you I am happy."

On January 2 the mother, Mrs. Roselyn K. Perkins, died in England.

Recently her daughter heard that she had left her nearly £600,000 of her £2,000,000 estate.

Mr. E. A. Curse, prosecuting, said that the club had nearly 2,000 mem- bers. A supper extension allowed drinks to be served with food until midnight. But it was noticed that one small half-sandwich was served with the first drink and no further food afterwards.

The club was well furnished, and there was no disorderly conduct.

For the defence it was urged that the club was understaffed, and the walters, being rushed, delivered the half-sandwiches while getting the others ready.
