(By The Pilgrim")

In the last game of the local hockey season, the Civilians defeated the Services by two goals to nil in a fast and close struggle on the Club ground yesterday. The winners scored once in each half.

The initial attacking was done by the Civilian' and after ten minutes" pressure, off a long corner hlt, G. II. Fowler received the ball and cracked a perfect ventre to G. Singh who, in the twinkling of an eye, hnd flicked the ball past Orman. This was a nice move and thoroughly deserved a goal.

The Civilians were back again with son: strong allocking but Osirin dashed out on several veea- slons to make good clearances from Wali and G. Singh. After the dismal weather wo had had the past three Saturdays, it was indeed pleasing to see the sky clear up on Saturday and thus allow the Hongkong Lawn Bowls League to get going. Most local bowlers have had their recent practices on heavy groans, and the “fiery” nature of most grounds last Saturday must have put a number of players off their stride.
