WOLVES MEET PORTSMOUTH
AT WEMBLEY IN
F.A. CUP FINAL
Wanderers Hot Favourites To Win To-day's Classic
Wolverhampton Wanderers, who must be the hottest favouritos since the War, will moot Portsmouth in the F.A. Cup Final at Wembley Stadium to-day. Thus, the two leading clubs in the country, who are receiving the much-dis- cussed therapy treatment, will be in opposition for the most coveted trophy of the English foot- ball season.
one time, the Wolves were conceded a god chance of currying of the "double"-the League Chiam- pionship as well as the FA Cup in the sume year. This feat has only been accomplished twlee, by Preston North End in 1888-00 and by Aston Villa in 1800-97.
With all hopes gone of annexing the League Championship, the Wolyes are set on winning the Cup. If they succeed to-day, they will have de served the honour; for such a good team as they are new are worthy of some honour this season.
Teams For To-Day's
Cup Final
The teams for to-day's F.A. Cup final are as follows:
Wolves. Scott; Morris, Taylor; Galley, Cullis, Car- diner: Burton, McIntosh, Westcott, Dorsett and Maguire.
Portsmouth. Wa Lk er; Morgan, Rochford: Guthrie, Rowe, Wharton:-Worral, Mc- Alinden. Anderson, Barlow and Parker,
Portsmouth have yet to win the Cup, although this will be their third appearance in the Cup Finn t Wembley, while Wolverhampton have appeared in five deals-none of them at Wembley-and won the trophy twice.
PREVIOUS FINALS Portsmouth appear to have a live- year plan, for they reached the final cord than on their performances in the Cup. Portsmouth have just as in 1920 and 1934. In 1920 they were beaten by Bolton Wanderers by two good a record, their victims including clear goals and in 1934 they lust to the Cup holders, Preston North End, aud Inst year's benten Analisis, Manchester City by the odd goal of uddersfield Town, while Wolver- three. At the time of writing the weather is far from promis- ing, but if the greens are fit for play the 1939 Lawn Bowls League season will commence this afternoon with 12 mat- ches in all, four in each of the three divisions.”
With no friendly matches to base one's judgment on-rain has washed out the past two Saturdays* pro- grammes-it is difcult to any what the prospects of the various clubs are" to-day: Inst year's performances, 1 am afraid, will have to serve as our guide.
In the Club de Recreio "A" tez n, inst year's champions of the First Division, are several junior players who, by virtue of their fine display last season, have earned promotion. Amongst them are C.M. Silva, co- winner with F.X. Soares, of the Palts Championship in the 1038 Compell- tion, LJ. Silva (formerly of the First Division but who played in the second team last year) and Dr. A. P. Guterres, whose consistent form warrants promotion.
The three skips are F. X. M. Silva. H. A. Alves and C. G. Silva. I sea R. F. da Luz is playing No. 3 to Dick Alves.
F. X. M. Silva was very suc- cessful indeed last season when the only defeat he sustained was in the last match of the programme, but of his rink only J. F. V. Ribeiro' is now left at No. 2. I wonder whether he will meet with the same mensure of success as he did. I doubt it.
"B" LOOKS WEAK.
Somehow the "B" team give me the impression of being rather weak. This may be an entirely mistaken impression, but the "B" players, who won the Second Division last year, will find that there is a distinct difference between the play in the First and Second Divisons, visit to the Craigengower C.C. to-day play is possible will convince them of this fact, I am sure,

Weather Unkind To Lawn Bowlers
The weather has certainly been unkind to lawn bowlers In Hongkong during the past three Saturdays. By the look of things, no play will be pos- sible this afternoon when the League is due to start. The only consolation that may be derived from the situation is that local reservoirs are bene- fiting appreciably.
