Foster-Mothers' For

A VERY special kind of milkbar is being provided for babies by Queen Charlotte's By pastourising, 'presor- Hospital, London. ving and freezing human milk it will ensure the natural fooding of infants whore mothers cannot provide it.

This "Burcau," which was opened ro- contly, has been made possible, through the National Birthday Trust, by Sir Julion Cahn, who has equipped it and is guaranteeing tho oxpenses for a year,

Similar methods are used in Russia, Cor- many, and the United States, where the Matron of Queen Charlotte's, Miss E. G. Dare, studied the technique on a recent visit. Doctors, backed by statistics, which in the United States show that 144 out of 1,700 artificially fed babies died, compared with 15 out of 9,750 naturally fed, insist that natural feeding is of first importance.

Mothers who have a surplus of milk after feeding their own babies will be visited in their homes by the Queen Charlotte exports. Careful medical tests will be made of the mothors and of the milk.

For every ounce of milk which thes? "foster mothers" supply for the benefit of other babies they will be pald 3d, by the Hospital.
