TO BE FLAGSHIP OF NEW ADMIRAL
CORNWALL
H.M.S. Cornwall, which is re-joining the China Station after re-fit and re-commission at Home, is expected to arrive in Hongkong on May 3, it was announced this morning.
Immediately after arrival, the flag of Rear Admiral A. J. C. Murray, who has been appointed to the newly- created post of Rear-Admiral of the Fifth Cruiser Squadron, will be hoisted in H.M.S. Cornwall.
Cornwall is taking the place of her sister-ahip, 11.M.S. Cumberland.
After her extensive re-fit in Eng- land she did a spell with the Second Cruiser Squadron of the Home Fleet, as a training ship for boya.
Capt. C. F. Ilammil is in command of this cruiser.

Thousands To Send.
Free Messages
THOUSANDS of free social messages will be transmitted from Hongkong on Monday by Messrs. Cable & Wireless Ltd., whose remarkable offer to the public has mat with wide- spread interest.
The scheme applies to every man, woman and child residing in the Colony.
It provides that each person desirous of doing so may send a 12-word message to any address in the Empire, excepting Canada, India, Burma and Trans-Jordan. No charge will be made.
Men of the three Services are displaying particular interest in the scheme, and many have already applied at the Cable Office in Connaught Road for free forms.
Cable officials emphasised this morning that only one free form will be issued to each applicant. Any further messages will be charged for at the new Social Message rate of $4 for 12 words.
In addition to making provision for the transmission to all parts of the Empire of messages lodged in Hongkong, the local office of Cables & Wireless is employing extra staff to cope with the large number of free messages addressed from other centres to residents in the Colony.
