between Chinese and Annamese in French Indo-China reached climax when about 1.000 Annamese colliéra stormed a Chinese community in- cluding about 100 houses of Chinese workers and merchants at Hatuh, on the eastern coast of Tonkin on April 23.
Reportedly originating la a quarrel between children, the Annamese launched a mob attack on the Chinese village and looted and set fire to a house after house.
