As large as the pre-war destroyers, the vessels will be the fastest and most efficient of their class in any navy. All are due to join the home fleet this year; hence they will be equally as dangerous to hostile aircraft and submarines.

As evidence of the further speeding-up of the naval con- struction programme, Mr. By- water also states that eight of the 16 destroyers authorised for this year have been ordered.
