COMPANY SECRETARIES TOLD-

FILE SHARES OR BE FINED

THE ATTENTION of secretaries of companies to the heavy penalty involved for failing to file the return of an allotment of shares in time was drawn by the Chief Justice, Sir Atholl MacGregor in the Supreme Court this morning, during the hearing of an application by the New Asiatic Chemical Works, Ltd.

The application was for an extension, of time to file an allotment of 2,040 shares,

Appearing for the Company, Mr. H. C. Macnamara, who was. instructed by Mr. H. N. Chau, said that the firm was formed carly last year. The reason why the allotment was not filed was because the directors were ig- norant of the law.

His Lordship remarked that ap- parently secretaries of companies were too busy to acquaint themselves with the law.
