FOR CHINA

HARTFORD, CONNT., Mar. 29.

IT HAS been learned that negotiations have been com- pleted with the Chinese National Government for a U.S.$15,000,000 credit in the United States for the purchase of engines from the Pratt-Whitney division of United Aircraft Cor- poration.

It cannot be verified whether this entire amount would be spent with one manufacturer.

It has also been learned from re- Hable sources that France has ordered 1,090 engines from Prait-Whitney during the past six weeks a cost of approximately $14,000,000. and that France holds the option to pur-) chase 200 more at a cost of $3,000,000. Private Deal

The Counsellor to the Chinese Embassy, Mr. Chan Lok-chen, sald he had no knowledge of the reported; $15,000,000 credit to China.

United States business sources sald if such arrangement has been com- pleted it will be an entirely private contract and that no Government- contracts will be involved.

Two very reliable sources express- ed the belief that the report is true. but that it most probably has beeti arranged in China-United Press.
