There are all kinds of gay frivolities in bright spring shades to deck even the most noverely tailored clothes. A few of the latest ideas are shown in the illustrations. If flowers, frull and feathers are not enough on your spring hat, then there are yards and yards of velling in different colours and smart multi-colours to give a rainbow effect.

As regards hat tilts, they depend on the style for their angle. Flower- laden modela are worn fairly straight, while lightly trimmed styles are tilled forward to obscure one eye. Materials that cannot easily be washed, such as delicate cretonne and other fabrics, can be effectively cleaned by starch. Make a thick paste of starch and water, and spread this all over the material. Let it re- main until perfectly dry, then brush it off gently.

A layer of starch paste over a bad stain will generally remove it Fruit stains on linen will be absorbed into powdered starch placed upon the spot as quickly as possible. After brushing off the discoloured starch, wash the linen to complete the dis- appearance of the stain.

Bolled starch is often spoilt by the formation of a flim upon the surface. This is easily prevented. As soon as you have made the starch sprinkle a little cold water on the top of it which will prevent the thick skin from forming.

Starch has other uses besides 'ils employment in laundry work.. You can store your silver in a box of powdered starch, before you go away from home and however damp the weather may be during your absence, the silver will not tarnish.

After washing paint in the usual way, wipe it over with a rag wrung out in starch water. This will leave a splendid gloss on the point.
